Fishing Lure Manufacturer Makes The DNR Master Angler List

Clarkston, Michigan, July 9, 2004 — Carolina Chip’s Fine Fishing Lures is proud to announce that Chip Carlisle, founder and owner, has made it to the 2004 Michigan Department of Natural Resources Master Anglers Listing.

On July 5, Chip and friend Tom Stesney were fishing on Deer Lake, just blocks from down town Clarkston. They had been fishing since 7:30 am in cold / cloudy to hot / sunny conditions. There had been a decent bite. Around 2:40 pm, Chip decided to hit some lilly pads with a spinner and on the second cast, he caught a very nice Largemouth Bass. After a 3 minute finesse fight back to the boat and with the help of Tom they netted the fish, Chip Landed the 6.75 pound bass that measured 26.25 inches. So far, this is the longest recorded Largemouth in Michigan for the 2004 season. It will certainly rank with the largest fish this year based on researched DNR historical records.

Asked about the catch, Chip replied “I have caught big fish like this all over the south, but I knew after moving to Michigan…there had to big fish in these inland lakes! The water is just too clean and God, by design, meant for these waters to hold fish like these.”

Chip moved to Michigan in 1993 and settled in Clarkston in 2001.

He has been making fishing lures for more than 30 years and started his lure business  2 years ago after request for his products prompted him to start selling for profit. His Company, Carolina Chip’s Fine Fishing Lures supports a Prostaff made up of  the highest level of competition fishermen. All of his Prostaff members have fished the BassMaster Classic. The Superbowl of fishing!

Chip is also involved in local Cub Scout Pack as the Cub Master.  He host a yearly fishing derby for the pack scouts and family members.
